Request for Input: Radiopharmaceutical and Radioisotope Shipment Delays and Denials

Radiopharmaceuticals and radioisotopes are essential components of modern medicine, research, and industry. Because many of these materials are subject to radioactive decay, timely and reliable transportation is critical to ensuring their safe and effective use. Stakeholders continue to face challenges related to transportation, regulatory requirements, logistics, and shipment availability, which can affect access to these important products. 

To better understand these challenges, the Nuclear Medicine Global Initiative is seeking information regarding delays or denials of radiopharmaceutical and radioisotope shipments.

The Nuclear Medicine Global Initiative is an international collaborative initiative led by the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) and global stakeholders to identify barriers to the production, transportation, and availability of radiopharmaceuticals and radioisotopes, and to improve patient access worldwide. NIDC is sharing this notice on behalf of the Nuclear Medicine Global Initiative and SNMMI.

Organizations involved in the production, distribution, transportation, or use of radiopharmaceuticals and radioisotopes are encouraged to complete the questionnaire and share their experiences. Responses will help identify barriers, inform future policy discussions, and support efforts to strengthen global access and supply resilience.

We encourage interested stakeholders to complete the questionnaire by August 21, 2026.

Please note: This questionnaire is administered by the project team, and is not a feedback survey specifically for NIDC. Rather, it seeks information on broader transportation and logistics issues affecting the movement of radiopharmaceuticals and radioisotopes across the supply chain.
