The DOE Isotope Program recently hosted a virtual roundtable with invited speakers from the international community to discuss best practices and the safe handling of radium-226 (Ra-226). Its physical properties present unique and challenging handling requirements, particularly its decay daughter radon-222. Candid discussions among this panel of national and international speakers addressed best practices, types of facilities, appropriate capabilities, and technical challenges, among other relevant topics.
