Heavy Water (D2O) Available from the DOE Isotope Program

The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Isotope Program is pleased to announce the availability of heavy water (D₂O) for research purposes. The general specifications of the material are given in the table below. Additional analytical results are available upon request.

The heavy water is packaged in polypropylene-coated, stainless steel kegs, each with a capacity of 50 L and measuring approximately 41 cm in diameter × 54 cm height (see figure). Full kegs have a gross weight of approximately 63 kg, which includes 50 kg of heavy water. To ensure product quality, purchases may only be made in full keg quantities.
