Representatives from the DOE Isotope Program (DOE IP) attended the 2nd International Workshop on Medical Radioisotope Supply, held on October 24-25, 2024, in Paris, France. This event, co-organized by the DOE Isotope Program, the Nuclear Energy Agency, and the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre, brought together governmental decision-makers, industry leaders, healthcare organizations, and researchers to discuss the future of medical radioisotope supply.
The workshop covered several essential areas, including:
- The role and challenges of innovative medical radioisotopes such as lutetium-177 and actinium-225.
- Strengthening supply chain resiliency by better understanding and monitoring supply and demand for these critical materials.
- Infrastructure needs across the medical sector to support a secure and reliable radioisotope supply.
The DOE IP remains committed to advancing medical radioisotope research and fostering collaboration to ensure reliable and sustainable access to these vital resources.
