The U.S. Department of Energy Isotope Program (DOE IP) has recently added a new product, ruthenium-96 (Ru-96), into inventory. This stable isotope is most commonly used in nuclear physics experiments to study the origins of the universe.
Ruthenium-96 is produced at Oak Ridge National Laboratory's Enriched Stable Isotope Pilot Plant, also known as ESIPP, via electromagnetic isotope separation. The product has an enrichment >92% with chemical purity >98%. The natural abundance of Ru-96 is 5.54%.
