DOE Isotope Program Translates Research to Applications in New Video
DOE IP video
Unveiled at the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging Annual Meeting in June, a new six-minute video showcasing the U.S. Department of Energy Isotope Program gives viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the production of isotopes critical to everyday applications, particularly in the medical arena. For instance, researchers across our national laboratory network explain how continuously improving production techniques for radioisotopes like actinium-225, astatine-211, lead-212, and copper-67 directly impacts the accuracy and efficacy of targeted cancer therapies. The video also demonstrates how integrating universities into DOE’s network helps to broaden production capabilities and, therefore, more efficiently fulfill end-user requests.
