DOE Isotope Program Announces the Availability of Additional Isotopes

NIDC

The DOE Isotope Program has initiated several efforts to re-establish the production of some selected radioisotopes that have been requested by stakeholders and the user community. These isotopes are in short supply or have been unavailable worldwide. For example, the DOE Isotope Program has developed production of Si-32, Ti-44, Cu-67, Cd-109, Ba-133, and Ac-225. Among these, Si-32, Al-26, and Ti-44 have been recently produced and are currently available for sale. Production of the other isotopes will be scheduled as needed. The DOE Isotope Program will engage in routine production of short-lived isotopes, e.g. Cu-67, if there is sufficient demand.

Silicon-32 (Si-32) is now available

Titanium-44 (Ti-44) is now available
To request a quotation for Ti-44, please contact Karen Sikes.

Aluminum-26 (Al-26) is now available

Actinium-225 (Ac-225) is available from proton bombardment of Th-232 targets at our accelerator sites at Brookhaven and Los Alamos National Laboratories and as a Th-229 decay product from Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Request a quote for Ac-225. For further inquiries about the availability of Ac-225, please contact Karen Sikes.

Copper-67 (Cu-67) is currently available six months of the year from proton accelerator production at Brookhaven National Laboratory and will be available throughout the year from electron linac production at Argonne National Laboratory beginning in May. Request a quotation for Cu-67. For further inquiries about the availability of Cu-67, please contact Karen Sikes.

Cadmium-109 (Cd-109) can be produced upon request. Both accelerator and reactor based production methods have been developed for Cd-109 at the DOE production sites. For further inquiries about the availability of Cd-109, please contact Karen Sikes.

Barium-133 (Ba-133) is scheduled to be available in 2018. The production of Ba-133 is scheduled and material will be available in 2018. For inquiries or availability of Ba-133, please contact Karen Sikes..

Strontium-89 (Sr-89) is available from two upcoming production campaigns. If sufficient demand is seen in response to these production runs, routine monthly production will be initiated. Request a quotation for Sr-89.
